The 23rd edition of the Water Sea Oceans International Film Festival is proud to announce another extraordinary guest of global acclaim. This September, the festival will welcome renowned Mexican marine biologist, wildlife cinematographer, and National Geographic Explorer Erick Higuera, whose breathtaking underwater imagery has captivated hundreds of millions of viewers worldwide.
Erick Higuera has contributed to some of the most iconic and groundbreaking natural history projects of our time. His cinematic work has been featured in landmark documentary series such as Blue Planet II, Planet Earth III, Mammals,Our Oceans, and The Americas, broadcast globally by premier platforms including BBC, National Geographic, Netflix, Disney+, and Apple TV+. Audiences may also recognize his expertise from the critically acclaimed Ocean project featuring David Attenborough.
Beyond his exceptional talent behind the camera, Higuera is deeply dedicated to marine conservation and scientific research. For more than two decades, he has documented the wild waters of Mexico, tracking orcas, giant mantas, great white sharks, and other marine giants through both visual storytelling and rigorous scientific methods, including satellite tagging and photo identification. His ongoing work directly supports ocean conservation initiatives and drives meaningful legislative change.
