When we first revealed that George Karbus would be joining VMO 2026, it may have sounded like great news. But let’s take a moment to talk about just how big this news actually is.
His work has received prestigious international awards, including Wildlife Photographer of the Year, British Wildlife Photography Awards, Outdoor Photographer of the Year, and Nature’s Best Photography.
His photography has been featured in internationally renowned media and publications such as BBC Wildlife, BBC Focus, Nature’s Best Photography, Nikon Pro, Outdoor Photography, Ocean, Digital Camera, Birdwatch, The Times, Irish Times, The Independent, The Telegraph, and many more. His work has also been exhibited at the Natural History Museum.
And as the cherry on top? George also contributed to Ireland’s Wild Islands, the film that won the Grand Prix at last year’s Water Sea Oceans festival.
This year, our festival is welcoming someone whose work is known all around the world, and you’ll have the chance to meet him in person.
